Intern Welcome

The intern meet-and-greet BBQ occurs in June and is part of the orientation week. This event provides a friendly atmosphere to welcome our new interns. Full of food, fun and laughter, the Intern Welcome is a nice way to introduce the interns to faculty and senior residents.

Resident Wellness Activities

Our program includes a dedicated wellness committee that organizes a variety of events throughout the year to help our residents to achieve work-life balance despite the inherent stressors of physician training. These events include dinner outings, outdoor events, and other physical activities. Our residents have seen a boost in productivity as well as a strong team spirit by finding time for these activities.

Resident Retreat

Each spring, our rising PGY2 and PGY3 residents gather for our resident retreats. With faculty guidance, residents develop tools to become successful seniors with focus on leadership, management and efficient workflow. Through group discussions and team building activities, residents work on dealing with stress, teaching skills, organization, and ways to maximize educational opportunities.

Holiday Party

In December of each year, the Department of Medicine hosts a holiday party. This event is open to program residents, faculty, and staff members and their families. The event serves as an opportunity for all to share in the spirit of the season.

Scholarly Activity

Our residents showcase their scholarly work at numerous regional and national conferences annually. These include numerous peer reviewed journal articles/abstracts (publications), posters, book chapter reviews and oral presentations. All residents complete some type of scholarly project, but the extent, topic and type of project is individualized based on their career goals.
