If you are diagnosed with sleep apnea, our team will prescribe a course of treatment.
After you receive a diagnosis from a sleep evaluation, our experts will coordinate a treatment plan with your own doctor.
The goal is to keep your airway open so that normal breathing can be maintained throughout the night. Depending on your condition and preference, this can be accomplished a number of different ways.
Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP)
One of the most effective treatments available is continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), a noninvasive therapy that can provide immediate relief. You will wear a mask over your nose during sleep. Gentle pressure from an air compressor forces air through the nasal passages and into the airway, holding it open so you can sleep and breathe normally during sleep.
Inspire Therapy
Inspire® therapy is a mask-free option for people with obstructive sleep apnea who have tried and struggled with CPAP. The Inspire implant keeps your airway open while you sleep, so you can breathe regularly and sleep soundly. If you are struggling with CPAP and want to consider Inspire therapy, speak with your doctor who manages your sleep apnea treatment. Additional testing and consultations are required.
Other Therapies
Other treatment can include medication, such as certain decongestants, permanent weight loss when weight is a contributing factor, or, in extreme cases, surgery.
